Jens Rosing (1925 – 2008)

ツ ツ

Rosing was a Greenlandic artist, known for designing Greenland’s coat of arms, as well as over 100 national stamps. He created a large body of drawings and watercolor that often served as illustrations for children’s books or books relating to Greenland’s history.

While Rosing was born in Greenland, he also spent many years in Denmark, near Copenhagen. As an accomplished designer and illustrator he focused on the wildlife of Greenland, drawing and painting numerous animals.

While he is best known for his stamps and illustrated books, a number of his original drawings continue to sell in international auctions. His illustrations are not only aesthetically pleasing but they tell the often overlooked history of Greenland, a country rich in tradition, folklore and national treasures.
