Jožef Tominc (also known as Giuseppe Tominz) was an Italian-Slovenian painter, active during the Austrian Empire. Tominc was born in Gorizia, an Italian town bordering Slovenia. After receiving initial painting lessons from local painter, Karel Keber, Tominc decided to pursue a career as a painter. In 1908, Tominc moved to Rome, where he attended the Accademia di San Luca and the Scuola del Nudo.
Before returning to his hometown, Tominc married Maria Ricci, with whom he had two children. While his new family initially settled in Gorizia, Tominc also spent time in Vienna, Austria and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Tominc is best remembered for his skillful portrait paintings. His portraits are remarkably realistic and noted for their classical style.
