Antoine François Callet was an 18th century French painter. Callet generally painted scenes of mythological figures as well as portraits of notable figures of the day. Callet studied under Boizot and attended drawing classes at the Academie Royale. He won the Prix de Rome in 1764, and remained in Italy until 1772. While in Italy, he painted frescoes, including one for the Palazzo Spinola in Genoa.  He also painted the decoration of the Salon d’Apollon in the Louvre along with artists Taraval, Renou and Durameau.
