Charles-Nicolas Cochin was an 18th century French artist. He was an engraver and a draftsmen, as well as an art critic. He created numerous independent drawings as well as designs for paintings and sculptures.

Cochin worked for King Louis XV and was commissioned to create commemorative prints for every birth, death and marriage that took place at court. He was also named curator of royal drawings and lived at the Louvre, though in 1773, he fell out of favor with the court. He was a teacher and an advocate of drawing from nature in the Rococo style.
