Vittore Ghislandi was a late 17th and early 18th century Italian Realist painter. Ghislandi is also known in the art world as “Fra Galgario” and mainly painted portraits of noble and affluent gentlemen and ladies.

Ghislandi distinguished himself from most portrait painters of the day with his relaxed and informal portraits. Art historians have noted that Ghislandi used methods of light and shading similar to that of Rembrandt, and he has been compared to his contemporaries, Greuze and Hogarth.
