Etienne Jeaurat was an 18th century French history and genre painter. He was appointed chancellor and rector of the Academie Royale and regularly exhibited at the Salon for a decade. Gobelins made tapestries from his designs, and during the 1750s, he painted natural, unsentimental street scenes of Paris.
