Gaspare Landi was an 18th century Italian painter. He studied in Rome under Girolamo Batoni where he copied the works of old masters like Michelangelo and Raphael.

While in Rome , Landi mastered soft, perfectly measured brushwork and was praised for his use of color and composition. He quickly became famous and acquired many commissions for portraits and mythological and religious paintings.

Towards the end of his career, Landi began to paint in a Neoclassical style and became the president of the Academy in San Luca.
