Joseph Lange was an 18th century Austrian painter. He was known mainly for his portraits, and most famously, painted portraits of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his wife, Constanze. This unfinished portrait of Mozart would have depicted him at the piano. Lange also painted many other portraits of prominent Austrians of the era.
