Henri-Pierre Danloux was an 18th century French painter and draftsman. Though Danloux was more influential as a draftsman, he was also an accomplished painter. He lived much of his life in Lyon, though he studied painting and drawing in Italy.

Many of his oils were history paintings and his portraiture was filled with detailed settings and telling features of the fabric of clothes. Following the example of Jean-Baptiste-Simeon Chardin, he often painter his sitters in an informal pose.

Still wondering about an 18th century French portrait or genre scene in your family collection? Contact us…it could be by Henri-Pierre Danloux.
