Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis was a Lithuanian artist, known as a painter, composer and writer. In addition to Čiurlionis’s many poems and musical compositions, he made around 300 paintings. The M.K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum was erected in his name in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Čiurlionis received formal training at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1904 to 1906. Čiurlionis later organized one of the first Lithuanian art exhibitions in 1907 and proceeded to help found the Lithuanian Union of Arts.

Čiurlionis’s legacy has remined strong since his death in 1911. His works are well documented and conserved.
